IBS04: class reunion 20 years after the start of studies

In November 2024, graduates of the International Business Studies degree program from 2004 met at the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the start of their studies. A varied program offered the alumni exciting insights into the developments at the higher education institution and an opportunity to exchange ideas with students.

In mid-November 2024, 20 alumni of the last year to graduate with a master's degree in International Business Studies came together for a get-together. Mag. (FH) Michael Ackermann, a former student, initiated the meeting and got in touch with the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein Tirol to create a nostalgic atmosphere that would wake old memories. The event began with a champagne reception on the roof terrace of the higher education institution, where Prof. (FH) Dr. Peter Dietrich, Director of Studies of the current International Business Studies degree program, along with Lena Streli and Jennifer Könneker from Alumni & Career Services, gave a short welcome address.

Back to the roots

During a tour of the new building sections, the participants were able to experience the transformation of the FH Kufstein Tirol, which impressed them with the laboratories and the “Festsaal” (Festivities Hall). A special highlight was the spontaneous participation in an ongoing course for part-time students in the International Business Studies degree program. Under the moderation of Peter Dietrich, the alumni showcased their current professional positions and gave the students exciting insights into the international orientation of their activities. 

For Michael Ackermann, the meeting was a trip down memory lane: “After so many years, returning to the University of Applied Sciences in Kufstein evoked a warm, familiar feeling – as if time had stood still. Although a lot has changed – the university is now twice as big as it was back then – the old memories remained vivid and were complemented by new, beautiful impressions. Returning for a weekend was like a journey into the past and, at the same time, a step into the present.”

For all participants, the meeting enriched their perspectives and made it possible to revive old contacts and make new ones. After their visit to the FH Kufstein Tirol, the day was not over for the alumni yet. After a long time of reunion, they enjoyed the evening in private in the old town of Kufstein.
